What is Globalization?
Globalization: is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture. Put in simple terms, globalization refers to processes that promote world-wide exchanges of national and cultural resources.
The previous world was known as "bumpy" meaning we had to climb mountains to send and receive information. Now it has transitioned into "the flat world" meaning due to the advanced in technology, we can get send or receive information in minutes, even seconds, to people halfway across the world which in times of need is convenient. This technology can involve text messages, phone calls, skype, the internet, etc. The scary thing about it is that everything can happen in an instant. It becomes easier to spread diseases, there is a decrease in privacy, there is more of a global competition for jobs and resources, borders are easier to cross, and young children have more access to technology which leads to a decrease in protection.
Globalization and flattening the world comes in three different categories: 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0.
1.0 is globalization through the country and its government
2.0 is globalization through companies
3.0 is globalizations through individulas

Guyana's Globalization
Guyana, still becoming a developed country, has a 1.0 and a 2.0 Globalization where the government and companies strive to reduce migration out of the country so they can keep their skilled and educated laborers to increase production to help the country survive by exporting their goods. With Guyana's major export being the sugar industry, it is run by a large company called Guysuco. Many companies also have foreign investments so they can send products of natural latex called balata and minerals to other countries such as America, Britain, Australia, Korea, and Malaysia. The government does its part as it has created the "Value Added Tax" in 2007 which allows one flat tax rate throughout the country. This allows them to gain spending to use for the good of the public.
Globalization is of course benefitting Guyana in multiple ways, but to say it's helping them progress quickly is false. for example, Guyana has poor water and sanitation due to poor services. Globalization is working to better the conditions, procedures, and facilities but Guyana still suffers from diseases such HIV and malaria which is the highest cause of death. Guyana also still has a lot of work to do do involving stabilizing it's government and the economy. It still continues to rank one of the poorest country with GDP being $800 in 2000. Before it's independence in 1966, Guyana was just responsible to gain GDP for Great Britain but now that they are an independent country, they have to rely on their own skilled laborers to bring in money, which is hard to do when the skilled workers migrate out of the country.
